James Hardie has decided to gradually wind down its fiber cement operations in Europe. The decision applies exclusively to European fiber cement activities and does not affect the group's other markets.

Παράλληλα με το wind-down, ο όμιλος Holcim εξαγοράζει τη Fermacell, ευρωπαίο ηγέτη στις ινοτσιμεντοσανίδες υψηλών επιδόσεων. Η συμφωνία έχει υπογραφεί και η ολοκλήρωση αναμένεται εντός του 2027, μετά τις κανονιστικές εγκρίσεις (antitrust). In parallel with the wind-down, the Holcim group is acquiring Fermacell, a European leader in high-performance fiber cement boards. The agreement has been signed and completion is expected in 2027, pending regulatory (antitrust) approvals. Fermacell continues to operate as an independent entity, with the same management and the same structures.

Fermacell products occupy a different market segment compared to classic fiber cement facades: load-bearing fire-rated walls with resistance up to 60 minutes, prefab and modular construction, high-performance acoustic insulation, and premium renovation in hotels, hospitals and office buildings. A2 fire classification (non-combustible), exceptional impact resistance, and faster installation through the ability to replace multiple plasterboard layers with a single board.
